The CXSU63133 is a compact, PFM mode, and step-up5GO嘉泰姆

DC-DC converter with low quiescent current. The inter-5GO嘉泰姆
nal synchronous rectifier reduces cost and PCB space5GO嘉泰姆

Inductor Selection5GO嘉泰姆
The inductor value determines the inductor ripple current5GO嘉泰姆
and affects the load transient response. It is recom-5GO嘉泰姆
mended to select the boost inductor in order to keep the5GO嘉泰姆
maximum peak inductor current below the current limit5GO嘉泰姆
threshold of the power switch. For example, the current5GO嘉泰姆
limit threshold of the CXSU63133’s switch is 600mA. For5GO嘉泰姆
choosing an inductor which has peak current passed,5GO嘉泰姆
firstly, it is necessary to consider the output load (IOUT),5GO嘉泰姆
input (VIN), and output voltage (VOUT). Secondly, the de-5GO嘉泰姆
sired current ripple in the inductor also needed to be5GO嘉泰姆
taken into account. The current was calculated in “Output5GO嘉泰姆
Capacitor Selection”. Since the output ripple is the prod-5GO嘉泰姆
uct of the peak inductor current and the output capacitor5GO嘉泰姆
ESR, the larger inductor value reduces the inductor cur-5GO嘉泰姆
rent ripple and output voltage ripple but typically offers a5GO嘉泰姆

The converter monitors the output voltage. When the in-5GO嘉泰姆
ternal feedback voltage falls below the reference voltage,5GO嘉泰姆
the main switch turns on and the inductor current ramps5GO嘉泰姆
up. The main switch turns off when the current reaches5GO嘉泰姆
the peak current limit of typical 600mA. The second crite-5GO嘉泰姆
rion that turns off the switch is the maximum on-time of5GO嘉泰姆
4μs (typical). As the main switch is turned off, the syn-5GO嘉泰姆
chronous switch is turned on and delivers the current to5GO嘉泰姆
the output. The main switch remains off for a minimum of5GO嘉泰姆
900ns (typical), or until the internal feedback voltage drops5GO嘉泰姆
below the reference voltage. By the control scheme with5GO嘉泰姆
low quiescent current of 11μA (typical), the converter gets5GO嘉泰姆
high efficiency over a wide load range. 5GO嘉泰姆
Start-Up5GO嘉泰姆
A startup oscillator circuit is integrated in the CXSU63133.5GO嘉泰姆
When the power is applied to the device, the circuit pumps5GO嘉泰姆
the output voltage high. Once the output voltage reaches5GO嘉泰姆
1.4V (typ), the main DC-DC circuitry turns on and boosts5GO嘉泰姆
the output voltage to the final regulation point.5GO嘉泰姆
Synchronous Rectification5GO嘉泰姆
The internal synchronous rectifier eliminates the need5GO嘉泰姆
for an external Schottky diode, thus, reducing cost and5GO嘉泰姆
board space. During the cycle off-time, the P-channel5GO嘉泰姆
MOSFET turns on and shunts the MOSFET body diode.5GO嘉泰姆
As a result, the synchronous rectifier significantly improves5GO嘉泰姆
efficiency without the addition of an external component.5GO嘉泰姆
Conversion efficiency can be as high as 92%. 5GO嘉泰姆
Over-Temperature Protection5GO嘉泰姆
The over-temperature circuit limits the junction tempera-5GO嘉泰姆
ture of the CXSU63133. When the junction temperature ex-5GO嘉泰姆
ceeds 150°C, a thermal sensor turns off the power5GO嘉泰姆
MOSFETs, allowing the devices to cool. The thermal sen-5GO嘉泰姆
sor allows the converter to start a start-up process and5GO嘉泰姆
regulate the output voltage again after the junction tem-5GO嘉泰姆
perature cools by 40°C. The OTP is designed with a 40°C5GO嘉泰姆
hysteresis to lower the average TJ during continuous ther-5GO嘉泰姆
mal overload conditions, increasing lifetime of the device.5GO嘉泰姆
